Spatiotemporal data

  1. Initial outbreaks in sparsely populated areas die out.
  2. Outbreaks become intense in some densely populated areas
  3. Spread then occurs mainly into neighbouring areas
  4. Some key areas (ski resorts?) are particularly well connected and may seed into more distant areas.
  5. Outbreaks have a duration of around 4 weeks. They do not reoccur in the same area.
  6. Excess deaths throughout Europe are no longer evident.
